Nobler Clockwise flying plane as the plans where originally drawn.
The plans shows a clockwise rotation set up because that was the way George Aldrich flew! The idea is that in that direction, engine torque helps keep the lines tight.
51" wing span.... 37" length... FOX .35 or a VECO .29 engine called for.
See this plane fly on Youtube. Wow, he is good!
File $5.00
This is just one of over 3 dozen plans loaned to me by Richard and Kathryn D. of Alaska to restore, for which I will be eternally grateful for.

FYI; You MUST tell me what Nobler you are ordering using these names.

Dear Uncle Willie,
I got the plans printed today, they are beautiful. I told my Wife I would like to put the long Nobler plans on the wall over the entertainment center, she didn't say no but again she didn't say any thing. She just gave me that look, you know what look I'm talking about right.
I sure appreciate the work etc. that you do for us modelers.
Thank you very much, boy am I Happy..... Ben

Subject: Memorial Day Plans Offer
Uncle Willie,
I hope you are enjoying the holiday. Yesterday I took my four year old son to see a B17, a B24 and a B25 at the local airport. He was thrilled to see the B17 that grandpa flew. It was great to hear three bombers with their engines running at once. I can't imagine how several hundred would sound as they flew over head. These three airplanes are at our airport every Memorial Day. I hope it continues for many years.
I'm getting back into the hobby after very long absence. I've been flying my 34 year old Falcon 56 all spring. It still flies great, but that old Enya 35 doesn't like the muffler or the modern fuels. It should last the rest of the season.
Looking beyond the Falcon 56, I think an Ugly Stick would be a good transitional plane. So I'd like to take advantage of your Memorial Day offer and request the Ugly Stick 60/120 plans. I had a hard time picking an airplane. Your website is such a trip down memory lane. I have always coveted the Jetco Navigator, but there is little water for me to fly from, so the Ugly Stick 60/120 it is.
Thanks for the great website
Mike Sciascia
For God's sake Mike! Why don't you spend some money and retire that 34 year old Enya 35.
You got your moneys worth.
Do you want us to pass a hat?

This plane is a real CLASSIC! I was so happy to get in an old Model Airplane News plan with this jewel on it. I have included a picture of the original plan with the backside included. Approximately 20 hours later and several screw ups of my own to "cover-up" and Yiiipeeeee. I am finished!
As I suspected, the tail did not mate with the fuselage. They never seem to do with these old M.A.N. plans. I corrected that flaw and too many others to talk about. I added a set of plywood rib patterns to help with the balsa rib construction. I assembled the wing spar into one solid drawing. I just hate it when one part is shown drawn as two pieces! I separated the landing gear from the elevator and I made a full elevator. Those are 2 more pet peeve's of mine. WHEW! That was a confusing mess to look at even when I was sober! So now this "lump of coal" of a plan is polished into a highly sought after beautiful jewel of a plan. Except for one thing, the dag nabbit plane is still going to fly in the "wrong" direction. LOL,,, So I flipped the wing and 3/4 of the fuselage and created a plan where the control lines exit the "correct" wing. Now this plane will fly in a counter clockwise direction as the good Lord intended ALL line control planes to fly!
51" wing span. 37" length. FOX .35 or a VECO .29 engine called for. One 8 ft. sheet.

Willie, I flew a Nobler in the late 50's and 60's. I flew freeflight for a number of years and all those models were scratch built from plans like these. This model will be a treat to build. The only thing I will not use that is of that era is Ambroid glue. CA for this project. I have one of the original sandcast Fox 35's. It is in like new condition and I will fly this plane with it. Now I need to find a good deal on colored silk. I was taught by a master builder how to properly use this covering. This model will be a treat for any 50's controlline purist. Thank you very much.

This is my RC version of the original Nobler Model Airplane News plan. I have removed the bell crank mount and all the U/C linkage. I used the longer of the two wings for the opposite wing. The flaps can be easily converted into ailerons. I suggest you install 2 servos in the wings for the ailerons. I corrected the rudder but left it "fixed" as it will not adapt to RC with out being redesigned and it would be worthless in the air as the wings have no dihedral to speak of. A miniature servo could be used to operate the tail wheel. The interior is going to be a very tight fit for your RC gear.
Being a medium size plane, I believe an access hatch could be cut out of the top decking leaving the wing fixed to the fuselage just as in the U/C version. It's your call. I have done the hard part, I will leave the little stuff for you to work out and enjoy doing.
The plans are printed on 24" wide paper, so any Kinko's will be able to enlarge them up to 150%.
53" wing span. 37" length. .35 - .45 engine. 2 to 3 channel radio with 2 to 4 servos.

This is a really cool old plan that was sent to me on a CD. I removed the half-elevator from the wing and move it to a new spot and made it whole. I also made the wing whole and did some other improvements.
